New Members Welcome
Meet the newest little one
"Family: where life begins...and love never ends."
Bringing home a new little one is an amazing time for every family. Rather this is your first or fourth, each time should feel special. This is why I always recommended that families get photos done, if not within 2 weeks of birth, then defiantly within a year. You will want to capture those first moments when you come together as a family at home.
I am blessed to be able to call this beautiful family, my family. And watching them grow from a young couple into parents has been a blessing. Plus, they make some adorable babies together. Just look at those sweet boys' faces! Recently they welcomed their newest member and he completes their family. I was honoured to be able to help capture some memories for them before they made their big move to a new city.
Why are family photos important?
Wisdom from a mom
This is the part of the post where I try to sell you on getting photos taken because that's my job, right?
Wrong.
I am a mama first and most to two (almost three) sweet little babies. My son is the feral no-nap lunatic that is always on the run, while my daughter is the sweet loving human being that her mama is. Both of them have such strong personalities that sometimes I forget they are just kiddos. Watching these two beautiful humans grow is a gift that I have been blessed with. Every day, more and more of their personalities come bursting out of their souls and I love being able to capture those moments. And to top it off, I am 36 weeks pregnant with another sweet baby that I cannot wait to meet and watch grow. Every year, I contact my favoirte photographer and book a session, because these moments as a family, are few. Before you know it, those sweet babies will be annoying (sometimes sweet on birthdays and holidays) teenagers and then successful adults. And we all know, that once they become teenagers, they are not going to want to stand with their "boring parents" in front of the camera. For these reasons, I highly recommend getting family photos done, at least once a year, especially with new babies.
I would like to tell you a story about our family session from last November. Our daughter was slow to walk. In fact, she didn't start walking till after she turned one, which was nothing like our son who was running at eight months. She was happy with crawling everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE. Didn't matter if there were rocks or stones in the way. Those keens were her form of transportation. Well, during our yearly session, my husband and I were keenly down to our kiddo's level for a photo and we decided to help our daughter stand, the help add different levels to the photo. It was at this moment, that our daughter let go of her daddy's hand and stood on her own for over 30 seconds for the first time. Her stance was strong and she was so excited about it. As were my husband and I. Our photographer caught those moments and I cherish those photos because it was a special moment in our lives and that memory is one that I will never forget now.

Q&A and Price information
There are a few questions that I often get asked when I am setting up a family session with new clients. I am sure that you too might have some questions and that is perfectly okay! I want to make sure that your family session is perfect. Below I have put some of the questions and my answers to them. If you don't see your questions here, then please feel free to contact me by using the form below or my contact page.
Q: Do you charge per person in the family group?
A: No, I do not charge per person. You are welcome to have as many people in your family group for any session. I completely understand that no two families are alike and I will not add on an extra cost.
Q: Do you do newborn sessions often?
A: The answer is yes. I cannot get enough of those cute newborn faces, but I do not do traditional newborn photos. I am more of a lifestyle photographer, meaning that I do not often use a ton of props during my sessions.
Q: Can we bring our own props or belongings for our sessions?
A: Definitely! While I do not often supply props for my sessions, I will always be more than happy to incorporate any personal belongings you may have into your sessions.
Q: What do we bring?
A: Bribes, bribes, and more bribes...I'm just kidding. (maybe just a little bit)
In all honesty, the best thing to just to keep it simple.
- Water
- Small snacks
- Personal item you might want to incorporate into your session
- And a smile
Q: What if our children misbehave?
A: Let's be honest, kids are going to misbehave or not have any interest in getting photos taken of them sometimes. This is okay. And I would be completely surprised if they did behave for the whole session time. I'd have to ask you what your secret was. I do have a few poses that I love to try and use with every family session I do but in the end, the most natural "poses" make for the most authentic photos. I love to capture laughter, play and movement, these actions are celebrated during my sessions. Snuggle your newborn, dance with your toddlers, and toss those sweet kiddos up into the air.
Do know, that if and when, your child misbehaves, I will step away and focus on another child or part of your group and allow you the chance to regroup with your kiddo. I will also try the old trick of distraction.
